Trademark guides / Stanley
Is “Stanley” safe to use on Amazon?
No, not unless you’re selling the genuine brand. “Stanley” is a trademark of Pacific Market International (Stanley).
"Stanley cup/tumbler" refers to Stanley's trademark. For other brands, describe the size and features instead.
Why it’s a problem
Stanley's maker joined Amazon in late 2024 to sue sellers of counterfeit cups bearing the Stanley trademark. Tumbler listings that borrow the name for other brands are a known target.
What Amazon does when it’s reported
Brand owners enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry can report listings directly, and Amazon removes infringing listings and can suspend selling privileges. Amazon has also joined brands such as YETI and Stanley in suing counterfeit sellers.
Amazon's catalog rules require accurate titles, so naming a brand you don't sell is both a trademark problem and a listing-accuracy problem.
What to write instead
- 40 oz tumbler with handle
- insulated travel tumbler
- straw tumbler
